DCP (Metro) G Ram Gopal Naik wrote to the DMRC chief security commissioner Saturday about the required security arrangements for the G20 Summit.

The Delhi Police have asked the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to shut a few entry and exit gates of metro stations during the G20 Summit in Delhi. The police have said this will be done from September 8 to 10 at 39 metro stations across the national capital.

DCP (Metro) G Ram Gopal Naik wrote to the DMRC chief security commissioner Saturday about the required security arrangements for the G20 Summit.

“As you are aware the G-20 Summit-2023 is around the corner and we are making all possible efforts to enhance the security matrix. Hence, in order to maintain foolproof security arrangements during the upcoming summit, it is required to ensure that the gates…that open towards the VVIPS route/venue of summit/place of stay may be closed from 08.09.2023 to 10.09.2023,” reads the letter.

Gates of Khan Market, Lajpat Nagar, Kailash Colony, Jangpura, Ashram, Barakhamba Road, Supreme Court, R K Puram, Bhikaji Cama Place, Munirka, IIT, Hauz Khas, Malviya Nagar, Sadar Bazaar Cantt, Palam, Central Secretariat, Udyog Bhawan, Mandi House, ITO, Delhi gate etc will be closed from September 8 to 10.

The police will only restrict entry and exit at a few of the gates at these stations and allow regular movement at others. They have also asked DMRC that the gate closing request should be given “top priority”, and said that such requests can be made during the G20 Summit for security reasons.
