Made-in-India iPhone 15 to release at the same time as global units: report

Apple is trying to bridge this gap with an early push for iPhones assembled in India.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Apple has reportedly started assembling iPhone 15 units in India.
  • This time, the made-in-India iPhone 15 units will reportedly be available around the same time as the global release.
  • This is much faster than previous India assembled iPhones that usually arrive months later.
  • Apple is launching the new iPhone 15 series on September 12th. It's going to be a global launch with sales expected to start soon after. This time Apple seems to have kicked of assembling the iPhone 15 in India earlier than usual. A new report now states that the made-in-India iPhone 15 will be ready to ship by mid-September.

    iPhone 15 India release timeline

Last month it was reported that Apple has started assembling the iPhone 15 at Foxconn's Sriperumbudur plant in Tamil Nadu. According to a report by ET, Apple is preparing to launch the made-in-India iPhone 15 units shortly after the global release or even at the same time. This would make it a first for Apple's iPhones, which usually arrive a little later than other markets.

  • Apple doesn't manufacture iPhones in India but it has been assembling them for the past couple of years. But iPhones made in India are ready to ship weeks after the units from China arrive. Apple is trying to bridge this gap with an early push for iPhones assembled in India. Apple's other two iPhone plants in India, Pegatron and Wistron, are also reportedly going to start assembling the new iPhones very soon.

  • iPhone 15 series

Apple's new lineup of iPhones is expected to feature four models in total — iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max or Ultra. With the new iPhones, you can expect Dynamic Island on all four models this time. Another major upgrade would be USB-C ports on the iPhone 15 series as Apple finally gives in to universal charging.

Apple is also rumoured to introduce two new colours for the Pro models — Titan Gray and dark blue. These colours are said to replace gold and purple, and the new dark blue will be the special colour of the year. The new colours are also reportedly chosen to accentuate the titanium finish that the iPhone 15 Pro models are going to come in.
